Returning for 2024: ‘Underclass Showcase’ events for boys and girls

The 22nd annual IBCA/IHSAA Underclass Showcase events (also known as “The Top 100”) are set for June 13 for girls at Ben Davis (1200 N. Girls School Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46214) and June 28 for boys at Brownsburg (1000 S. Odell St., Brownsburg, IN 46112). These are “individual events,” and players featured are rising seniors, juniors and sophomores for 2024-25.

The IBCA/IHSAA Girls’ Basketball Underclass Showcase is scheduled at Ben Davis High School on Thursday, June 13. The girls’ Showcase will be held with all players in one session. Check-in will be at 12:30 p.m. The session will run until about 4:30 p.m.

The IBCA/IHSAA Boys’ Basketball Underclass Showcase is scheduled at Brownsburg High School on Friday, June 28. The boys’ Showcase will be run in two sessions with about 60 players in each. First-session check-in will be at 11:00 a.m., and the session will run until about 2:40 p.m. Second session check-in is at 3:00 p.m., and that session will run until about 6:40 p.m.

In 2023, 50 coaches from 44 colleges attended the Girls’ Top 100 Underclass Showcase and 58 coaches from 50 colleges attended the Boys’ Top 100 Underclass Showcase.

All IBCA-member coaches will be admitted free to both events by displaying a current IBCA membership card.

Lists of players expected to participate in these events should be released publicly about three weeks before each event.

Back again in 2024: ‘Summer Team Tournament’ for boys and girls

The IBCA/IHSAA again plans to host scholastic team events for boys’ teams and girls’ teams in 2024, again with administrative assistance from Charlie Hughes Basketball.

The second IBCA/IHSAA Girls’ Team Showcase is planned for June 14-15 with games at Hamilton Southeastern and Mt. Vernon (Fortville). Most teams will play four games over two days (two games each day), although some teams may play just two games in one day only. In 2023, 72 teams participated in the Girls’ Team Showcase.

The fifth IBCA/IHSAA Boys’ Team Showcase in memory of Charlie Hughes will be June 21-22-23 with games at Carmel, Westfield and possibly other sites. In 2023, 156 teams participated in the Boys’ Team Showcase.

In 2023, 55 coaches from 49 colleges attended the Girls’ Team Showcase and 100 coaches from 82 colleges attended the Boys’ Team Showcase in memory of Charlie Hughes.

Both events offer a low-cost housing option in dorms at Anderson University.

Team fees for each event is $340 for four games over two days or $200 for two games in one day only. Admission for fans is $10 per day for adults, $5 per day for students (ages 6 to 17) and free for children 5 and younger.

In 2023, the IBCA and Charlie Hughes Basketball donated $10,000 to the Riley Children’s Foundation.
