Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame

By Matt Martin

Matt MartinWelcome from the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.

Difficult to believe another season has come and gone. History has been made on the hardwood as eight teams (four girls and four boys) have solidified their place in the history books, being crowned IHSAA basketball state champions.

Just like history being made on the hardwood, the Hall of Fame continues to showcase the history of Indiana basketball. Opened in December 2024, our 6,600-square-foot expansion showcases even more of what Indiana high school basketball is all about. Come see it for yourself!

While last year we welcomed Henry Community Health as our title sponsor for the Classic, we are thankful the organization wanted to extend our partnership even more and become the admission sponsor for our museum. That means museum admission is now FREE for everyone to enjoy. Now there is no excuse to not come visit us.

2025 inductees

The 2025 Class of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame for men were inducted on March 19; the 2025 Class of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame for women will be inducted on April 26. In total, these classes include another great group of inductees for enshrinement in the Hall of Fame Museum. Those individuals include:

  • Men: D. “Earle” Swede Chambers, Wilbur Cummins, Bryce Drew, Matthew Graves, Ron Hecklinksi, Scott Hicks, Dan Howe, Ervin “Erv” Inniger, LeRoy Ronald Johnson, Floyd Kerr, Lloyd Kerr, Troy Lewis, David McCollough, Jeff Moore, Jim Shannon, Daryl Warren, Jake Weber and Greg Humnicky (Silver Medal).
  • Women: Sarah Armington, Megan Boguslawski, Tom Earlywine, Melina Griffin, Kelly Komara, Alan Maroska, Dave Miller, Ruth (Hutchins) Parker, Carolyn Pieper, Kris (Booker) Rastrelli, Carrie (Mount) Roelle, Doris “Bill” (Smyers) Richards, Marcia Snow, Sylvia J. Spicer, Lori (Castetter)Walton, Sally (MacGregor) Ward and Martha Randel (Silver Medal).

Participating with the Hall

We are appreciative of the participation of IBCA-member coaches in joining our Hall of Fame membership drive. IBCA-member active coaches and active IHSAA officials are offered a membership for $50 per year, a 60 percent discount off the normal cost. Your support helps us run our operations and share the history and memories of Indiana high school basketball. Your Hall of Fame membership also gives you information and access to the many events that we hold each year.

Upcoming Hall of Fame events include three golf tournaments. Traditionally, those events are the Southern Indiana Golf Outing presented by Shepherd Insurance at Country Oaks in Montgomery, our Northern Golf Outing presented by Sharon Versyp at Chippendale Golf Course near Kokomo, and our Citizens State Bank Hall of Fame Golf Classic at Pebble Brook Golf Club in Noblesville. Look for dates and other details for these three golf events to be announced sometime soon, and all information will be posted on our website at www.hoopshall.com.

We have continued to grow our efforts through social media to honor, preserve and promote the heritage of Indiana high school basketball – follow us on Facebook (@INHoopsHall), Twitter (@HoopsHall) or Instagram (@inhoopshall) for news about the Hall of Fame and for a touch of Indiana basketball history. If you are ever interested in putting an article in our magazine, please reach out to Publications Coordinator Noah Dahlquist at noah@hoopshall.com.

Of course, we always encourage visitors to our New Castle Museum. No matter the season, there always is something new to see at the Hall of Fame. With our added expansion, we now have more than 20,000 square feet of museum space for you to enjoy.

We appreciate the support from the IBCA and the relationship between our organizations. Contact our offices at (765) 529-1891, e-mail me at matt@hoopshall.com or, better yet, visit our 20,000-square-foot facility in New Castle with any ideas or questions or to simply enjoy some time at the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. We are excited about the future.

– Matt Martin, executive director, Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame
