Welcome back to yet another year of Indiana High School Basketball. We hope that the preparations that we all go through for the upcoming season are going smoothly and the anticipation is growing in your communities.
The IBCA is working hard to become more prevalent with the IHSAA to continue to grow our game and tournament. Our organization will be tested to work together to come up with ideas for a proposal to unite the coaches, players, fans and IHSAA to restore the great traditions of our tournament within the class system or some compromise. We must lead the charge as an organization. The best way to show our commitment to this issue we must increase our membership and also take an active part in it. We look for everyone to participate in surveys to have your voice heard.
We encourage you to take a look at the new updated website that contains all the information for our organization. Many forms, policies and procedures for the Top 100 Underclass Showcase, All-State / Junior All-Star selections are posted as well as scholarship, awards and other items to promote your players through our organization. Please look for mailings and e-mail reminders from the IBCA to get these nomination forms in on time.
The IBCA is extremely fortunate in these economic times to have the amount of sponsorships that we have make contributions to our organization. BSN Sports, Indiana Pacers and Best Choice Home Health, along with many others, continue to support our organization in many capacities. We appreciate all they do for us. A full list of sponsors is located on our website.
The Indiana-Kentucky All-Star Series will have its Diamond Anniversary (75 years) this summer. The IBCA took over the running of the All-Star series this past year and we want to thank Charlie Hall and Pat McKee for their leadership in making this transition successful. We continue to grow this event with now a Junior All-Star game as well with Kentucky. Look for more information later on the events to honor special Diamond Anniversary celebration.
Our impact on the players we serve as a coach continues to be the greatest thrill of our profession. The Xs and Os never are as important as the life-lasting relationships we build with young men and women in their years they are shaping their beliefs. You and I both know, we play a major role in that for these kids. We as coaches should enjoy that awesome responsibility to lead in a positive way.
Finally, I am looking forward to the challenges we face as an organization and serving as your president. Remember, that your District Representatives and Executive Board are here for you. We must continue to work together to help move our organization forward. We wish you the best on and off the court.
Chris Benedict
