Congratulations to the Roy Gardner Award Winner: Tom Rohr
Tom Rohr of Montezuma is the winner of the 2017 Roy Gardner Award.
Rohr is in his 45th year of officiating and has worked 40 sectionals, 28 regionals, 11 semistate and six State Finals in boys basketball over the years. He has been a long-time member of the Wabash Valley Officials Association, serving that group as an officer and clinician at various points.
He describes meeting “a lot of great coaches and athletic directors” as a career highlight, and he was honored in 2006 with the Outstanding Indiana Athletic and National Federation Officials Award.
Rohr is retired from the Panhandle Eastern Pipe Line Co. He now works at Geneva Hills Golf Course four days per week in the summer. He is a 1965 graduate of Montezuma High School, where he played three years of varsity basketball and three years of varsity baseball. He began officiating in 1972.
Rohr has two children and two grandchildren.
