2017 Mildred Ball Award

 
 
 

Congratulations to the Mildred Ball Award Winner: Larry Sintz

Larry SintzLarry Sintz of Brookville is winner of the Mildred Ball Award.

He is a 1964 graduate of Brookville High School and participated in basketball while a student.

Sintz obtained his officiating license in 1964 and has worked high school events in boys basketball, girls basketball, volleyball and football for 53 years. He also called women’s college basketball games at the NAIA level for 10 seasons.

Over the years, Sintz has officiated 41 sectionals, 36 regionals, 12 semistates and three State Finals (1990, 1995, 2001) in girls basketball. He also has called 10 sectionals and five regionals in boys basketball. For volleyball, Sintz has worked 40 sectionals, 35 regionals, 10 semistates and five State Finals. He also has officiated football for 46 years.

A member of the Eastern Indiana Officials Association, he was a girls basketball clinician for four years. He received the Center Circle Officials Award from the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014.

Sintz retired from a long career with the Visteon Corp. in Connersville in 2006.

He is the father of two adult children, Eric and Erin, and has four grandchildren.
