Indiana All-Stars

By Charlie Hall

Charlie HallThe 2016 IndyStar Indiana All-Star Games with Kentucky drew a 12-year best crowd of 6,851 to Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Moving forward, the 2017 games are coming together as we speak.

All 12 coaches and the Girls Seniors have been announced along with both Junior teams. The Boys Seniors should be ready to go in early to mid-April.

The Indiana All-Stars will play the Kentucky All-Stars on Saturday, June 10 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. The girls’ game will tip off at 5:00 p.m., and the boys’ game will follow. If you want to bring your team, we will sell you $18 tickets for $10. E-mail me at chall33@msn.com or call me at 765-480-2665.

The Kentucky All-Stars will host the Indiana All-Stars on Sunday, June 11 at Central Hardin High in Elizabethtown.

The Junior-Senior exhibition games will be Tuesday, June 6 at New Albany and Thursday, June 8 at Plainfield. Both nights, the girls’ game will begin at 6:00 p.m. and the boys will follow. Admission is $6 per person to each exhibition doubleheader.

The Mr. and Miss Basketball winners will be announced on April 27 at the Indiana Sports Awards Dinner. The girls’ finalists are Dana Evans of Gary West, Karissa McLaughlin of Homestead and Madison Wise of Greenfield-Central. The list of boys’ finalists will be forthcoming.

The 84-team All-Star Shootout will be Saturday, June 10 at Best Choice Fieldhouse and at Ben Davis. I want to thank Steve Witty and the IBCA volunteers who make the Shootout work.

I want to thank Rob New and Best Choice Fieldhouse for agreeing to continue as our presenting sponsor for another four years. That will put the total to nine years of what has and will be unprecedented run of generosity for the All-Star series.

Another key All-Star supporter is Bob Kizer and BSN Sports, which will provide over $10,000 worth of equipment and uniforms for the third straight year. In addition, Pacers Sports & Entertainment, Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Marian University, MCL Cafeteria, Shepherd Insurance, McDonald’s and Franciscan Health Sports Medicine are on board again.

Hope to see you all on June 10 at the Fieldhouse.

Beat Kentucky!
