The Indiana Basketball Coaches Association is “paperless” for the fourth year in 2019-20.
Coaches now are reminded by e-mail to join the IBCA in an online process (or you can print the form, cut a check and mail the form and check to Renee Turpa, as directed). In addition, coaches will be reminded to look online for the annual membership form and various nomination forms, scholarship forms, ballots and honors for various IBCA programs. Those will include:
- Nomination forms for IBCA All-State/IBCA Underclass Showcase, IBCA Academic All-State and for the Crawley, Mannies and Aikman scholarships.
- The annual ballot for Coach of the Year honors and voting for District Representatives will occur online.
- Nomination forms for the two Point Guard College awards (Heart of a Champion Award for players; Transformational Coach Award for coaches) will occur online. (See more about these awards in the item about IBCA corporate partners.)
- Information forms to be submitted for IBCA coaches’ Century Awards (coaches who reach 100, 200, 300 victories, etc.).
- Registration forms for the IBCA Clinic in April 2020 at Lawrence North High School will be done online. (Similar to membership, you will be able to print this form, cut a check and mail the form and check to Renee Turpa, if you need to do that.)
Remember, only current-year member head coaches may nominate and vote (the IBCA membership year runs from Aug. 1-July 31 each year; if you joined last spring for the clinic, that membership expired on July 31, 2019). The nomination process will occur in a “members-only” section of ibcacoaches.com. If you are not a current-year member, you will not be able to access the area needed to make a nomination of your players for various honors and awards. If you have not joined the IBCA for the 2019-20 school year, please do so now for yourself and all your coaching staff.
Please note the deadline dates for the various honors and awards. Don’t hinder a deserving student-athlete’s chances for receiving recognition because you forgot to join the IBCA or missed a deadline.
