Greetings Coaches! I hope you had a productive Summer and are excited about the upcoming season. The IBCA looks forward to working with you.
While maintaining the traditions the IBCA is known for, we continue to evolve and make changes for the betterment of high school basketball in Indiana. To that end, this will be a very busy year for us. As the process was started at the clinic in April, this is the year for us to make a proposal to the IIAAA and IHSAA concerning any changes we want in our game.
To make changes we need to make certain we speak with the voices of all of our girls' and boys' basketball coaches. So, first of all, please get your memberships turned in as soon as possible. We ask that you consider registering all of your coaches if you haven’t done that in the past. Secondly, please be prompt in returning all survey requests. Changes in our game will only come if we can provide data that shows all coaches have responded and that our proposal is reflective of their opinions.
I ask that you show your support to our sponsors. Our partnership with New Balance has proven very worthwhile to the IBCA. Please show them your patronage and try their products. They have a great shoe and sporting line for basketball and provide excellent service when you need them.
Most importantly, let’s all remember why it is we coach. We have to be about more than just winning basketball games. We have a tremendous responsibility to teach our players the skills necessary to win in life. It is my hope that we can use our great game to build people of service for others. Good luck to you this season and I hope you have many victories on and off the court.
In His Court,
Wayne Barker
