IBCA changes in leadership, constitution, added district reps

A number of changes within IBCA has occurred over the past few months, including new titles and duties for some of the organization’s leaders, the adoption of an amended constitution and the addition of three district representative positions.

Regarding the leadership: Marty Johnson now is the IBCA executive director, Tom Beach now is the IBCA associate executive director/chief operating officer and Steve Witty, formerly the executive director, now is executive director emeritus. Essentially, Johnson and Beach now are jointly overseeing the day-to-day operation of the IBCA. Witty remains a part of the IBCA leadership, but his duties no longer require his everyday attention.

An announcement about these changes, including biographical information on the three leaders, was made on July 28. Here is a link to that full announcement. IBCA Leadership Changes 2022

Regarding the Constitution: The IBCA leadership periodically reviews its Constitution. In the most recent review, it was decided to generally clarify the wording in several spots in the document. The one significant change in the document is that the number of district representatives has been increased to 18 for each year – nine boys’ coaches and nine girls’ coaches. Previously, there had been 15 district reps (nine boys’ coaches and six girls’ coaches).

Regarding the added district reps: Three girls’ coaches have been added as districted reps for the 2022-23 and 2023-24 years, each person filling a spot in the election cycle where there had been no “matching” girls’ rep to a given boys’ rep. Those appointed to fill these positions are Will Coatie of Elkhart in District 1, Debbie Smiley of Brownsburg in District 2 and Tyler Choate of Evansville North in District 3. Their terms expire on July 31, 2024.Indiana Constitution
