Boys' Coaches of the Year

 

Travis Hannah

District I - Oregon-Davis

Travis HannahCoach Hannah took over at Oregon-Davis in 2002 after the Bobcats had gone 0-42 the previous two seasons. The Bobcats went 1-19 in his first year as head coach. Five years later the Bobcats finished the regular season 20-1. Last season Oregon-Davis advanced to the 1A Semi-State. Coach Hannah has led the Bobcats to three Athletic Conference Championships (2004-2006) and two conference regular season championships (2006&2007). Coach, congratulations you have done a great job turning your program around.


Bob Punter

District I - Valparaiso

Bob PunterCoach Punter has been a mathematics teacher in Valparaiso Community Schools since 1969. He became the Varsity Boys' Basketball coach in 1989. During his career, he has also coached track, football, and girls golf. In 1994, he led the Vikings to an undefeated regular season and a State Runner Up finish. He has won numerous Coach of the Year awards and in 2003 was selected as an Indiana All-Star Coach. At various times this past season his Vikings have been ranked #1 in the AP and Coaches' Polls and finished the regular season 20-2. His varsity coaching career record is 298-116. Congratulations! Coach, you have had an outstanding career.


David McCollough

District II - Noblesville

David McColloughThis is Coach McCollough's second IBCA Coach of the Year honor. During his career his teams have won ten Conferences, seven Sectionals, one Regional and one Hall of Fame Championship. He has coached two Indiana All-Stars, has served as an Indiana All-Star Coach and is a past president of the IBCA. This past season the Millers were 20-3 and Hamilton County Champions. Coach McCollough is 211-80 in 13 years at Noblesville. Congratulations Coach!


Mark James

District II - Franklin Central

Mark JamesThis is Coach James' second selection as an IBCA District Coach of the Year, his first coming in 1995-96. He has led the Flashes program the past 22 years. His teams are known for their work ethic, self-discipline and their fundamentally sound approach to playing the game the way it is supposed to be played. James has led the Flashes to five Sectional, five Conferences and two Marion County Championships. The Flashes finished the regular season at 20-2 and were ranked #1 in the state at various times. Congratulations Coach! You have had an outstanding career.


Tom Bradley

District III - Orleans

Tom BradleyFor the past eight years, Bradley has coached at Orleans. Going into this year's tournament his teams have won five PLAC Conference, four Sectional and one Regional Championships. Coach has led the Bulldogs to four straight 20 win seasons. The Bulldogs finished the regular season at 17-3 and were ranked #3 in class 1A. His career record is 144-52 (74%). Super Job Coach!


Jay Brown

District III - Edgewood

Jay BrownCoach Brown is a graduate of Edgewood High School and Indiana University. He has coached all 21 years at Edgewood, 14 as an assistant coach, three years as the Varsity Girls' coach and is finishing his fourth season as the Boys' Varsity coach.

During his tenure as the boys' coach, the Mustangs have won three consecutive Western Indiana Conference Championships and a sectional title. Going into the 2007 state tournament, the Mustangs were ranked #1 in class 3A in the AP poll and sixth overall in the IBCA Coaches’ Poll. The Mustangs also finished off their first perfect season in school history at 20-0. Coach, congratulations on your perfect regular season.
