The IBCA again has designated January as “Coaches vs. Cancer” month for high school Basketball in Indiana. In the first six years of this initiative, boys’ and girls’ coaches across Indiana raised nearly $600,000.

2013-14 New Coaches  
From the beginning of last season through September 2013, 138 people have been hired as new varsity basketball coaches in Indiana high schools -- 67 to boys basketball positions and 71 to girls basketball positions -- for the 2013-14 season.

Reminder: NCAA Division I academic requirements for Class of 2016 and beyond  
The NCAA has released an SAT/ACT sliding scale that corresponds with the increased GPA requirements for the class of 2016 and beyond. Any current high school freshman or sophomore who is even remotely considering the possibility of playing a sport collegiality needs to pay attention.

Top 100 Showcase recap  
Some of the top players with returning high school eligibility in the state participated in the 11th annual Boys' and Girls' Top 100 Showcase events. The IBCA would like to thank the IHSAA, McDonald's, Gatorade, Champion, Anaconda Sports and the IHSAA basketball officials who called the scrimmages and all the high school coaches for their support in making these Showcase events successful.

NFHS rule changes for 2013-14  
Five rules changes were approved by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Basketball Rules Committee at its April 15-17, 2013, meeting in Indianapolis. All rules changes were subsequently approved by the NFHS Board of Directors.
