The IBCA again has designated January as “Coaches vs. Cancer” month for high school Basketball in Indiana. In the first seven years of this initiative, boys’ and girls’ coaches across Indiana raised nearly $700,000. In 2013-14 coaches, teams and communities that reported raised $72,000.

From the beginning of last season through September 2014, 190 people have been hired as new varsity basketball coaches in Indiana high schools -- 92 to boys’ basketball positions and 98 to girls’ basketball positions -- for the 2014-15 season.

As a membership benefit, coverage is provided by the Commercial General Liability Policy issued to the National Organization of Coaches Association Directors. This policy will protect the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association and its active members who are high school coaches, junior high coaches or elementary coaches from claims made by negligent acts accidentally committed resulting in bodily injury, personal and advertising injury or property damage to others.
