In order for a player from your school to be eligible for selection to an IBCA All-State Team, the IBCA Academic All-State Team or to win a Marion Crawley, Junior Mannies or Pat Aikman scholarship award, you must be a current-year-member of the IBCA.

The IBCA generally received positive feedback from a modified set of All-State Teams that was used for the first time last season. The same groups of honorees will be chosen for Senior Boys, Underclass Boys, Senior Girls and Underclass Girls in 2015-16

The third Challenge Cup will be Jan. 9 at Frankfort Civic Center in Frankfort, Ky. Teams representing Indiana are Columbus North (girls), Wood Memorial, Forest Park, Jay County and New Albany.

January is ‘Coaches vs. Cancer’ month
In the first eight years of this initiative, boys’ and girls’ coaches across Indiana raised more than $750,000. In 2014-15 coaches, teams and communities that reported raised more than $78,000. That brings the eight-year reported total from Indiana basketball coaches to $758,690.

2015-16 New Coaches
From the beginning of last season through September 2015, 164 people have been hired as new varsity basketball coaches in Indiana high schools -- 65 to boys’ basketball positions and 99 to girls’ basketball positions -- for the 2015-16 season.

Reminder: NCAA academic requirements for Class of 2016 and beyond
The NCAA has released an SAT/ACT sliding scale that corresponds with the increased GPA requirements for the class of 2016 and beyond. Any current high school student-athlete who is even remotely considering the possibility of playing a sport in college needs to pay attention.

The 2015 All-Star crowd at Bankers Life Fieldhouse was our largest in the last 10 years at 6,533. The Indiana All-Stars won all four games with Kentucky.

As a membership benefit, coverage is provided by the Commercial General Liability Policy issued to the National Organization of Coaches Association Directors. This policy will protect the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association and its active members who are high school coaches, junior high coaches or elementary coaches from claims made by negligent acts accidentally committed resulting in bodily injury, personal and advertising injury or property damage to others.
